Davide and Allesandro -

How we know him – I met Davide and Allesandro at the gym one day while working out. I asked Davide for a “Spot” on the bench and he never let me out of his site from that point forward! About a week later, I saw the two of them while taking Trey to swimming and they bought me a coffee. Davide speaks no English, while Allesandro speaks a bit, so we were able to have some decent conversation and get to know each other. The rest is history. They are two of the better friends that I have in Italy.

What they do – The two of them are the Italian equivalent of the CIA, specializing in the terrorist unit! Davide is stationed in Florence while Allesandro works in Livorno. There job is to follow possible terrorist leads. They dress in normal civilian clothing on a daily basis and simply roam the streets of their respective assigned cities. Both have been on the news here in Italy after arresting terrorist subjects! Their jobs allow for a decent amount of free time for me to meet them for coffee or lunch, which I do quite often!

Our Friendship – Its pretty cool hanging out with the two best looking guys in Italy! When Anna’s sister was here, she met Davide one day over a cup of coffee and could not take her eyes off him! Anna’s mom asked Alex for a kiss when she met him in front of the Duomo one day! What makes the two of them such great friends is their “Childlike” approach to life. They’re like little boys with refreshingly silly senses of humor. If its not Alex telling Trey with a straight face that he thinks that Superman is real, its Davide sending me a text message letting me know that he is having a plate of spaghetti with Nutela on it and drinking it down with a glass of clam juice!

Their girlfriends Antoinetta and Helga are very sweet and the six of us have a nice time together when we go out. We have been invited to spend a few days in the South of Italy (Near the boot) in their home town of Tarento this summer. Not sure if we will have the time to make it, but if we do I we know it will be nothing but fun.

Interesting Quip – In 1998 the two of them entered in the Mr. Italia competition on the island of Iscia. The judges had such a difficult time deciding between the two of them that they gave an unprecedented first place tie to the two of them!!!
