Pisa is one of the Italy’s most well known cities, because of its famous leaning tower. This was our second visit to Pisa (The first being seven years ago, with my parents when Trey was only two). The purpose of our journey to the city that is Florence’s biggest rival was to take the Meucci family (Simone, his parents, brother and girlfriend Veronica) to dinner at the same restaurant that we visited last month with my parents (The Last Supper in the November version of Florentine Braheem). This was our way of saying thank you for all the wonderful things that Simone and his family have done for us in the four months that we have been here.
Simone has become like family to us. We see him at least three or four days a week. He is our primary baby sitter (The first time we have had a male baby sitter, but the kids just love him), he picks the kids up from school and brings them home on Monday and Friday and continues to help out Anna and I in a pinch when we need him for errands etc… It sometimes blows my mind that he is only 19 years old. I hope that one day my son grows up to be a responsible nice young man like Simone (Can I give a higher compliment?)
We took the train from Florence to Pisa (A great way to travel as its only one hour without a stop and drops you off right in the heart of the city of Pisa). Upon arrival we took the bus to the historical area of the city to see the Bapistry and the Leaning Tower which was the request of Trey and Olivia who very much wanted to see whether this tower really leans or not! The answer of course is a resounding YES. It would be unfair for us to say that we don’t care for Pisa (We have not really seen the city) but it appears to only offer its famous tower and beyond that not much. Following our sight seeing, we headed via taxi to Marina Di Pisa for our meal. Our dinner was wonderful as we ate family style at this seaside restaurant that serves only fish and has no menu (They only serve you what they have brought in fresh from the sea that day). As was the case in our last visit, the two brothers that own this wonderful Trattoria were the perfect hosts.
