Friendly Faces (Merv Kopp)

Those of you who are former work associates of mine (That sounds kind of weird when I write that!) know the man in the photo below and may be surprised to see him with us! His name is Merv Kopp and we worked together for nearly four years at Loantoolbox.

Merv and his friend Esther visited Florence for three days in early May and we managed to hook up for a couple of glasses of wine at the castle and then dinner at our favorite local restaurant “La Vecchia Betola”. It was nice to see a friendly face from home and even more enjoyable to be able to treat the two of them to the beauty of the castle as well as a typically terrific Italian dinner.

An interesting footnote is that Merv was last in Florence in 1964 and remembers vividly climbing Giotto’s Bell tower, a feet that he repeated some 44 years later when he scaled the 417 steps to the top in early May. Not bad for someone who is 73 years of age!
